This second installment of our custom series, #TVisSocial,
continues to quantify the significant engagement viewers have with TV programming as expressed through social media.
In this second report, we focus on TV and social conversation in the summertime. We found that ad-supported television engages consumers and ignites conversation during the summer months. A few highlights:
- Ad-supported TV accounted for two-thirds (67%) of the top 10 trending Twitter topics
- No other platform came close to the dominance of ad-supported TV. Consider that 83 ad-supported entertainment TV shows trended, with the other platforms receiving handfuls of trending content/programs – Pay-TV (8), Netflix (3), YouTube (2), PPV (1), Snapchat (1), Twitch (1), Facebook Live (1).
