National Programmers Create First U.S. Joint Industry Committee (JIC) to Focus on Premium Video Currency- Just Announced!

Joint Industry Committee Enables Multi-Currency Future, Accelerating Path to Cross-Platform Measurement

We believe progress is made when we unite.

That’s why today, we are excited to announce the first U.S. Joint Industry Committee (JIC) focused on premium video currency.

The newly created programmer-led JIC will focus on enabling the future of cross-platform premium video measurement and will be responsible for executing measurement certification, establishing the suitability of emerging cross-platform measurement solutions as well as creating a new unified streaming viewership dataset. Learn more here.

The JIC’s efforts will be in collaboration with and in service of the entire industry.

At the time of launch, the JIC members include premium video premium video programmers Fox, NBCUniversal, Paramount (including BET), TelevisaUnivision, Warner Bros. Discovery, OpenAP and VAB – with more members expected to follow.

As a collaborative forum, the JIC will actively elicit participation from agencies, marketers and other industry bodies.

We are here because of the groundwork we laid together - collaborating in forums, participating on councils, embracing testing and learning.

Starting in January 2023 with these launch partners, the JIC will fund key data initiatives to accelerate measurement innovation. The newly-launched JIC will:

  • In partnership with VAB, establish and maintain a measurement certification process that will be housed inside of the JIC for third-party measurement vendors conducting cross-platform premium video currency services that will be operational by Broadcast Year 2024.
  • Create a programmer data set to enable third-party measurement vendors by harmonizing streaming viewership data brought together by OpenAP infrastructure.
  • Engage a third-party audit firm to verify the accuracy of the streaming viewership dataset in order to maintain measurement independence and neutrality.
  • In collaboration with VAB and ANA, accelerate progress made to measurement calibration by both parties, as well as with other key industry trade bodies.

This is another step forward in our journey together to achieve true cross-platform measurement in a transparent, competitive multi-currency environment.

We’ll have more to announce soon, including measurement certification standards on March 1.

Stay tuned for much more.
