We want to shine a light on the young professionals who are not only succeeding in their role but those who have also shown meaningful ways to ignite change in our industry and community.

The Rising Star Awards at VAB will recognize young professionals who have demonstrated leadership along with having achieved exceptional accomplishments in their role. We want to celebrate the rising stars whose work, passion and commitment have helped to advance diversity, inclusion and belonging in the workplace.

Help us celebrate inclusivity and support the next generation of diverse leadership by nominating yourself or someone else as a Young Rising Star.

With the ultimate goal of accelerating the drive for real, lasting change in diversity and inclusion across the industry, we are providing a virtual stage for new voices and candid conversations that will offer fresh perspectives, new way of thinking and personal experiences. We want to inspire positive shifts in the decision-making around diversity, inclusion, belonging in the industry, workplace and beyond. The selected Rising Stars will be recognized at our diversity leadership event this June:

Criteria for Submission

  • Shows passion and ambition, and has made significant contributions to their company, department, or peers
  • Shown promise in making further contributions as a diversity leader
  • May or may not be a VAB member


Submission Guidelines

  • Email submissions to [email protected] by May 12, 2021
  • Subject must include: Rising Star Nomination
  • Submit the answers to the following questions in a word doc attachment
    • Nominee First and Last Name, Job Title, Email Address
    • Nominating person + Relationship
    • Name of Organization
    • Why are you nominating this person (200 word limit per answer please)
      • Growth: How has being a minority in your organization impacted the way you (or your nominee) work or how you engage with your colleagues?
      • Ambition: How have you (or your nominee) shown ambition in their career growth thus far?
      • Contribution: How have you (or your nominee) demonstrated efforts to better the workplace or community?
      • Future: How do you (or your nominee) show promise in making further contributions as a rising star/young leader?
